1. Scope
This notice describes the processing of information by the private Actual Budget
application available through actual.grantham-smith.uk. The application
is used by its owner for personal budgeting, account reconciliation and financial
record-keeping.
2. Information processed
The application may process information relating to financial accounts explicitly connected by its owner, including:
- account names, identifiers, types and balances;
- transaction dates, amounts, descriptions, payees and references;
- categories, notes, budgeting information and reconciliation records; and
- technical information required to authenticate, secure and operate the service.
3. Purpose of processing
Information is processed solely for the owner's personal financial management, including budgeting, transaction categorisation, account reconciliation, debt management and analysis of personal spending.
4. Open Banking
Enable Banking may be used to retrieve account information from financial institutions only after the account holder has explicitly authorised the relevant connection. Access is limited to accounts authorised by the application owner and remains subject to the permissions and consent periods provided by the relevant financial institution and Enable Banking.
5. Storage and security
Financial records are stored on a privately operated Actual Budget server controlled by the application owner. Remote network access is provided through Cloudflare and is protected using access controls in addition to the application's own authentication.
Reasonable technical measures are used to restrict unauthorised access. No Internet-connected system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
6. Service providers
The application may rely on the following third-party services where necessary for its operation:
- Enable Banking, for authorised Open Banking connectivity;
- Cloudflare, for DNS, HTTPS, network connectivity and security; and
- Actual Budget, the open-source software used to maintain the personal finance ledger.
Financial information is not sold, used for advertising, or intentionally shared with unrelated third parties.
7. Retention and deletion
Information is retained for as long as the owner considers it useful for personal financial record-keeping, budgeting and reconciliation. Records and connected-account authorisations may be removed by the owner when no longer required.
8. Other people appearing in transaction data
Personal financial records may incidentally contain names or payment references relating to other people, for example where money is sent or received. Such information is retained only as part of the owner's private financial records and is not used to provide a service to those individuals.
9. Changes to this notice
This notice may be updated if the application, hosting arrangement or connected services materially change. The date at the top of this page identifies the latest revision.
